I started Akaura out of frustration — the kind that comes after trying product after product, hoping something would finally calm my skin. You know that moment when you open a new jar, try it once, and think, Maybe this one… and then a week later your skin is red, tight, or irritated all over again? I lived that cycle for years.

It wasn’t just my skin. I watched people around me — women juggling work, motherhood, stress, hormones, aging — all chasing products with long ingredient lists and pretty labels, only to end up back at square one.

So I went back to basics. Back to the kind of ingredients my own culture grew up trusting. Back to the idea that your skin doesn’t need more — it needs what makes sense.

Why Tallow Became Our Starting Point

Grass-fed tallow isn’t trendy. It’s timeless. It mirrors our skin’s natural oils, absorbs quickly, and supports the skin barrier in a way modern lotions rarely do. When I realized how simple and effective it was, everything clicked:
